Emily is off to Panama, and she explains that God is "using me to change the lives of hundreds of Panamanians in the coming weeks".
My question is whether these Panamanian's need or want their lives changed. Who are we as Americans to believe that those in other countries need or want out help because they are "poor" or live in "third world countries."
If one spends time out of site the resorts and actually lives with them they might find that many of these people who like in supposedly "terrible" conditions are quite happy and content with their lives.
One friend often says that in the United State they just work to make money and in Latin America there is much more to enjoying life.
I suggest before attempting to change someone's life you first spend enough time in their community to learn what, if anything needs changed!
in total agreement. gotta KNOW the where and who before saying they need to change. this young lady's broad, sweeping statement can be blamed on the ignorance of youth... 'ight?
